The authors provided the first ever overview of plastic surgery training in the United States and Europe. They explored the similarities and differences in training programs in 51 countries in Europe and the United States. They found that plastic surgery education is vastly different between the United States and Europe and even within Europe. They suggest that standardizing curricula worldwide would improve interaction and the exchange of information including ever-increasing developments, vital for quality control and improvement of the specialty.
